
The Cottage offers a cosy countryside retreat with two en-suite bedrooms, garden-facing dual-aspect lounge, open fire and full kitchen. Recently refurbished with tasteful décor and luxury furnishings, it’s ideal for couples or small families. Enjoy a private garden with seating, hammocks and BBQ, plus access to the Walled Garden. Attached to the Hall with a locked interconnecting door, it can be rented alone or with the Hall for larger stays.
Please note that minimum stay is 2 nights (except for Christmas and New Year 2026 when arrival is Wednesday with a minimum stay of 7 nights.)

From the A1(M), take Exit 62 (Durham/Sunderland) and follow the A690 toward Durham City. Continue onto the A691 heading northwest toward Lanchester/Consett. Stay on the A691 (Durham Road). The entrance to Burnhopeside Hall is located 1 mile before you reach the village of Lanchester, on the left if you are heading away from Durham. Look for lamps along the roadside and and a sign for 'Doggieland' where you turn in. Signs for Burnhopeside Hall will direct you down the correct driveway.
